James O’Hurley

James joined BGS in 2025, and contributes his talents in dual roles. As a Blueprint Mentor, he coaches faculty at our partner schools to improve their practice in service of student achievement. As our Associate of Content Strategy, he crafts messaging that showcases school improvement work and strengthens stakeholder engagement. Before joining Blueprint, James taught English, leading a fully non-selective cohort of 300+ students to an over 90% pass rate on the AP Literature exam, and has coached several students to perfect SAT scores. 

James earned his Master’s in English Literature & Public Media from Fordham University and a BFA in English from Florida State University. A nationally award-winning poet, he lives in New York City with his partner.
